It is only April isn't it?

After going to Heather's class this morning Jenna went to a friend's birthday party at Adventures on Wonderland. Arthur took Aaron to Chatham for the Scout Dragster Rally.
Aaron came in 3rd in his division and was so proud. Anyway Jenna and I had to wait for them to pick us up. We found the patio at Angelos quite a pleasant location to sip a drink, eat a nanimo bar and have a conversation while we waited.

Fashion Stamping

Jenna did Heather's Kids Class this morning. She brought a pair of jeans to stamp on and Heather gave her a shirt and washer. Jenna enjoyed the stamping but I think she was most proud of the necklace she made using rub ons. Thanks for the class and thanks for the ride Heather.

Close call

Good thing for paperwork! We had a service man here the other night looking at our furnace. He had to come back the next morning to replace a part. When he left our cat Kally was trying to come into the house. The serviceman asked if she was our cat and when we replied yes. He told us we had almost lost her the night before. He was in his truck doing some paperwork before leaving the driveway when he heard something in the back of his truck. Our curious little cat had jumped inside to investigate. Had she not made any noise he would have driven off with her. She does have a tag with her name and our phone number on it just in case.

Another sign of spring

Traditionally we think of robins, spring flowers and warmer weather as signs of spring. Last night we had someone go through our car probably looking for money, alchohol or small hand held electronics. Fortunately they were not interested in anything that was in our car. That was not the case however for some of our neighbours. The police officer I spoke with said it is a sign of the warmer weather that this kind of thing happes

Kub Kar and Scout Dragster Invitation

This past weekend the 1st Strathroy Scout hosted the Annual Sydenham Area Kub Kar and Scout Dragster Rally at the Community Center in Mt. Brydges. Aaron has never been too successful at these events so was so excited to be invited to the Invitation Rally in Chatham this weekend. I'll send the camera with Arthur as Jenna and I have things to do in London. Maybe we'll have a picture to post next week.

Jenna's skating portrait

Jenna has her final figure skating lesson of the season this evening so I thought it fitting to post this year's skating portrait. Her group skated to Singing in the Rain and Here Comes the Rain Again.

Torn Paper Animals

We did these cute torn paper animals out of thick Mulberry paper last night at Skribbles and Scraps in Sarnia. It was a fun evening and fortunately we didn't have to brave a snowstorm or thick fog in our travels this time.

So busy!

It seems like forever since I have had time to post on my blog. Not that I've lost interest, I've just been so busy with a new job and coordinating everything else that by the time I get a chance to sit down its time to go to bed.
Today after work I am going to a tear bear class with Eliz and Lizz at the scrapbook store in Sarnia. This class is one that had to be rescheduled due to a snow storm. I think tonight we'll be ok. I'm not scheduled to work tomorrow so may have a few moments to post.

Adhesive for Vellum

Since we already have a Disney autograph album, I decided to use some extra photos and do an autograph Hound page for our bigger Disney album.
Until now, I haven't found an adhesive that does not show through vellum. Angela Appeldoorn from Creative Memories created the make and take on this page. Their frosted photo splits disappear under vellum when you rub them. I like it so much I just had to buy a package.
Thanks Angela for the album door prize. Jenna will use it for her cat album.

Night Magic

I was working on a page for the night parade in Disney when we took a break and did a make and take by Amanda Brown (Close to My Heart Consultant). When I got back to my chair I noticed it looked perfect on the page. Love it when that happens.
Thanks Amanda. It was just the right touch.

Magic Kingdom

Jenna used a die cut I cut with my Wishblade. Sorry I don't remember who created it so I can't give credit. She used gel pen and stickles to decorate it. Great job Jenna. I may just have to use your idea.
ps: love the ribbon we just had to buy.

Its a "Me" kind of day

I feel its a "Me" kind of day. I have to go to work for a little while this afternoon for a staff meeting. Since the temperatures are going to be almost summer like and work is not far from Grand Bend I'm going to the beach for lunch. Winter has dragged on long enough and I'm going to do some "Walking On Sunshine"
Can't wait. Those who know me well know that my favourite place on earth is the beach.
Over the next few days I will be posting some of the layouts that Jenna and I did at the 3rd Annual Scrapbook and Stamping Day in Arkona. We had so much fun. Thanks Lizz and Eliz for all your hard work in organizing and setting things up. The demonstrators and the store were awesome. Not many times does everyone who is there get to take home a door prize. Glad my boys were able to help you clean up. Thanks again.

Scrapbooking tomorrow

After an intensive month of job training, I am so looking forward to getting into my comfort zone and scrapbooking with friends and my daughter Jenna tomorrow. It feels like forever since I have done anything creative and it will be wonderful for my soul. I'll post some of our work on future entries. Thanks Eliz and Lizz for all your work in putting the 3rd Annual Arkona Scrapbook and Stamping Day. (this year I'm not representing a scrapbook company so I'll get to scrapbook. Can't wait!)

Downy Woodpecker

Saw a little downy woodpecker in the tree in our front yard this evening. Never noticed him before.
Here is what I found out about him
The Downy Woodpecker, Picoides pubescens, is the smallest woodpecker in North America. Adults are mainly black on the upper parts and wings, with a white back, throat and belly and white spotting on the wings. There is a white bar above and below the eye. They have a black tail with white outer feathers barred with black. Adult males have a red patch on the back of the head.

Photo Freedom by Stacy Julian

I took a class called Finish Line Scrapbooking at Creating Keepsakes Convention last year and completed a 6 X 6" album of a family reunion in just 2 hours.Stacy maintains that because of the number of photos we take with digital photography we are all behind if we scrapbook chronologically. She works in themes instead of time. Listen to a free podcast of an interview with Stacy Julian about her approach to Photo Freedom

A rose is a rose

We presented this rose to Jenna after her skating performance yesterday. She wasn't quite sure what to make of it.

Easter morning

The best part is still the Easter egg hunt!

Easter treats

I'm not very good at
cake decorating but had to give it a try this Easter. Aaron helped me with these. We'll take these to Granny's tomorrow for our Easter Brunch.
(Good thing Arthur replaced the bottom element in my oven this week or they would have been burned)

Nothing says Easter like flowers

The Easter cactus is in my dad's sunroom and its no accident that Arthur and Jenna are in the background of the hydrangea I bought for my mom and dad. I also bought one for Arthur's mom.
When I brought them home Arthur commented that I probably would have liked one for my house too. I may go back on Monday and get one for myself.

Strathoy Skating Carnival

Aaron took some photos of Jenna in her skating carnival. He was disapointed that they were so blurry but I know how difficult it is to get clear photos of skaters and they move past you. I think he got some pretty good shots.
They skated to Singing in the Rain and Here Comes the Rain Again.
We will have her professional portraits to show later. Jenna had me order the Carnival video because I was in the dressing room with the girls so didn't get a chance to see the whole show.

ps Eliz, Jenna was thrilled with her red and pink varigated rose. Thanks for reminding me to get a flower for her.

Have a great holiday weekend.

I don't know where the last week has gone. Spent my 3rd week in training for a Crisis Counsellor position at a Women's Shelter and have not had much energy for anything else.

I'm glad its a long weekend so I can spend some time with family. Hope you all are able to spend some time with the ones you love.

Could spring really be near?

I woke up this morning to the sound of birds singing outside my window. Not sure if this means spring is really near but really hope so. I have also heard from others that robins have been sighted here in Southwestern Ontario. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Some March Break Fun

Got to do some March Break fun things today. Arthur went to London with me and waited while I had a job interview and then we went to pick up Aaron and Jenna at my Mom and Dads'.
While at Chapters we noticed the Hannah Montana 3 d movie was playing so took a chance to see if there were any seats left for the 2 oclock show. Sure enough there were so we went in .3-D, they weren't kidding. Just like the movies they show at Disneyland drum sticks, guitar picks and confetti looked close enough to touch. After that we went bowling and then out for dinner.
It was a fun day and sort of made up for the rest of the week while I was working days and Arthur was on nights.

My son the enabler

It's March break and I'm in training for a new job every day except Friday, so the kids miss out. Jenna did spend the day with a friend and Aaron spent the day working on his stamp collection and burning a hole through a leaf with his magnifying glass. Glad his dad was supervising.

We were supposed to go swimming after supper but decided because my son was still coughing so much it might not be a good idea.

I had just picked up my Stampin Up order and he asked if he could mount the stamps so I could stamp tonight instead. He does a good job so it kept him busy for a little while. As for stamping tonight, I think I'll just put up my feet and watch some television with the kids instead.

More All Occassion Cards

More cards from the All Occassion Card Class by Skribbles and Scraps in Sarnia.

Set your clocks ahead tonight

Its daylight savings time earlier than usual here in Canada. Set your clocks ahead 1 hour tonight. Its also a good time to change the batteries in your smoke detectors.
(This clock reminded me of The Golden Compass we saw last night.)

High School Musical Layout

What better thing to do when a snow storm is raging outside? Scrapbook of course.
The photo of Sharpay and Ryan slides behind the middle photo of Aaron and his friend Eric on the left side of the layout.

All Occasions Cards

Lizz, Eliz and I went to an all occasions card class at Skribbles and Scraps in Sarnia on Thursday evening. This class had been rescheduled due to weather and now it looked like everything was ok to go. It was fine on the way there but on the way back we ran into fog patches that made driving dangerous. We took our time and made it home safely.

I'm glad we went. Where else would you get to make cards with 3 Liz's and 2 Gerries?
Here are just a couple of the 12 different cards we made.

Registration for Great Lakes Mega Meet May 8,9,10

Eliz and I had so much fun last year we are going again. We've also conviced Lizz to join us. I just did the registration and we are taking 3 classes. That leaves lots of time to shop, shop, shop. I also hear there is a new Archivers store nearby. The convention is in Novi, Michigan(Detroit) May 8,9,10

Its been a whirlwind week

Its been a whirlwind week with training for a new job, having to drive through a snow storm and a job interview on top of the normal week of things. My head is spinning but I am looking forward to going to a card class that had been cancelled last week due to weather.
I'm home tomorrow so can catch my breath. I'll post some cards tomorrow.

March Pagemaps are available,

March pagemaps are now available. There are also new cardmaps available too. Having a bit of trouble getting in to the site so will try again later.

Monday, March 3, 2008

Don't know how much time I'll have to be creative in the next few days. I'm in training for a new job and if today is any indication, I'll need time to just relax. I'm not used to learning new policies and procedures. I'm really excited about this opportunity and will have time to be creative soon enough.

Enchanted

Jenna, her friend Gabby and I had a girl's weekend. We saw the movie Enchanted and then went to dinner at Swiss Chalet. It was a nice change of pace.

High School Musical the Ice Tour

Went to see High School Musical The Ice Tour with my son's grade 6 class. The boys in my group were really impressed by the way the golf cart moved on the ice and by the fireworks show at the end. I enjoyed it from start to finish. Just wish it went on a little longer.
We were fortunate to go before the storm hit.

Roll Up the Rim contest

Tim Horton's has their Roll up the Rim contest on again and I received a handy dandy gadget in my stocking at Christmas to roll up those coffee cup rims. It does come with a disclaimer though to prevent burns only use on empty cups. It also does not guarantee a winning cup any time. So now that I have my coffee card, I'm all set. I'll let you know if I win anything.

Is it Spring Yet?

With a cold weather alert for South Western Ontario yet again, I can't help but long for the warmer weather of Spring.
I know why my Dad brings in forsythia and pussy willow branches in February and forces them to flower in his sunroom. He gets his seeds ready to plant there too.
Found these cute flowers at
http://www.craftideas.info/. There are a lot of ideas there so its a worthwhile site to browse.
Hope you are keeping warm today!

Dollarama find week of Feb. 28

Thurs. seems to be a good day for me to find things at our local Dollarama
2 yards of each of 4 kinds of ribbon $1.00. Glass letter tiles in upper and lower case. They also came in blue and sunshine yellow but I showed some restraint.

Sad State of Affairs

When I looked at my blog first thing this morning I found a questionable comment which has now been deleted. It is a sad state of affairs when some find it necessary to insert spyware into comments on an innocent stamping and scrapbook blog. In order to protect readers of my blog I have been forced to moderate my comments. I really appreciate all of the readers who post genuine comments and am disappointed by the fact that I have to screen out those who do not share in the purpose of this blog. So you can rest assured that if a comment remains it will be safe to click on without danger of infection of your computer or unwanted solicitation.

My favourite girls

My two favourite girls enjoying this morning's sunshine. It's always a nice way to start the day.

Thank you card

I made this thank you card for my Mother-in-law for putting on my birthday party. I'll pop it in the mail in the morning.

Conservation Station at Disney.

Used some of the Stampin Up ribbon I just acquired through a ribbon share and chipboard letters from my last Dollarama run. My goal is to use the things I buy soon after the purchase. We'll see how that goes.
There is a little slide booklet in the top left corner of this layout.
