Shed is going up

Our new shed is starting to take shape. We have the siding on the back wall already. The kids think we will have lots of room to store their bikes. A couple more days and we will be closer to being finished. Then to do some landscaping. Then I might have some time to do some crafting.

The shed is coming down

The shed is on its way down. The new one will go up on Wednesday and Thursday. Can't wait until its all done!

Now we have capenter ants!

This job is getting much bigger every day. In order to get some wood into the back yard we took down half of an arbour that grapes were supposed to grow on. In an attempt to get the roots and dead plant out we took out the soil to uncover a huge carpenter ant nest. Searched the web and found suggestions to use icing sugar/baking soda mixture and a borax/sugar water mixture. Hopefully that works. Any one else have any suggestions?
My friend Eliz suggested telling the carpenter ants to grab a hammer and help out or move out.
Similar suggestion from my other friend Lizz. "If they're carpenter ants maybe they can help build the shed. lol"

I'm half way through my 12 hours overnight weekend at work. Got some sleep today but I am still tired. Have to work midnight to noon. Hopefully the girls will be asleep tonight when I get in.

Stop and smell the flowers

In among the branches from the evergreen tree we are cutting down there are flowers blooming.
I just need to remember to stop and notice their beauty.

Mario Punch Art

We bought my nephew a Mario Party game for his birthday so decided to make a Mario Punch art birthday card for him. The card was very much appreciated and I had so much fun making him.

This is going to be a bigger job than it started out as

As always this is going to be a much bigger job than we originally thought.

No only do we need to take out the cedars and the overgrown shrubbery to build are shed, we also need to take out an ugly evergreen tree. Already took 2 trailer loads of branches to the dump and think we may have 3 more.

What a beautiful day to be outside!

It's a beautiful day to be outside and we have our hands full today. In order to make room for a bigger shed for some bigger toys we had to cut down down cedar trees and evergreen bushes.

We picked up our utility trailer at my parent's last night so are going to uncover our grass today.
I might even be able to get the cedar hedges trimmed too. Ambitious plans so lets see how much we can get done today.

Ist chance to play with in colours

This is the first chance I've had to play with the new in colours. This is a tri fold gift card holder using the slit punch to close it on the right side. I don't have the new in colour ribbon and couldn't find anything in my stash that would go. I did however find some non Stampin Up flowers and glitter that would do the trick. I used one of my favourite swirls from the Baroque set as my background stamp and my largest scalloped square punch from Marvy.

Found a Catty Cruise

Look what I found while blog surfing this morning. I really want to go on a cruise but circumstances won't allow me to right now.
This might be the next best thing.

Mini Forest Friends

I cased Cindy's matchbox pop up

using Forest Friends and then also made a 3" stair step card using the same idea. I only uploaded the stair step card as I am having difficulty getting a clear photo of the matchbox pop up.

Time to craft

I have some time right now to craft but am finding it hard to get the inspiration. Maybe I'll just open up the file with some of the cards I have liked while blogsurfing and start from there. I'll post what I come up with.

Another wonderful day in Kingston

We are back in our rooms at Queens University after another wonderful day in Kingston.
We took the ferry over to Wolfe Island and had a picnic lunch there. This evening we went to the Sunset Celebrations at Old Fort Henry and thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment and the fireworks. One more day and we have to head home. Not quite sure what we will do tomorrow.
Arthur wants to go to the Geology museum, we found a couple of camping/outfitting stores downtown and the Buskers are in town for the Kingston Busker Rendevous.

Bringing home a little friend from vacation

I got this little friend when we arrived here in Kingston on Sunday. We stumbled on a craft fair and I could not resist this one. (sorry the photo is not great. I'll retake one tomorrow)

A little shopping today

Did a little shopping today and toured the Kingston City Hall. We also went for a swim in a public pool and had a good day.

What I earned during Sale-a-bration

This is the stamp set I earned during Sale-a-bration. I loved the little girl on the swing. Jenna really likes the cat in the bonnet that comes with the set.

Went to Boldt Castle

Today's sightseeing trip was 1 1/2 hours from Ganonoque by boat to Boldt Castle and back. I'd been there over 30 years ago but they have finished parts of it. Will have to take a trip back when its completely finished. Its Magnificent.

Dr Who Phone booth

Arthur is a Dr. Who fan so I just couldn't resist a photo op with this red phone booth at the Kingston tourist information booth.

He just came out a little too soon.

Sunny afternoon in Kingston

We left early this morning and sailed through Toronto so were in Kingston just before 1.
Gorgeous weather and we found a craft sale in the downtown so I for one was in heaven.
We had a great afternoon and a great dinner at Aunt Lucy's. Then back to our rooms at Queens University to relax and head to bed. Tomorrow is another day.

flashback to the 70's

While driving along Highbury Ave in London this evening we saw a flashback to the 70's.

Picture this: a blond and a white guy with an affro in a red and white convertible. Try explaining this to the kids. Arthur and I had a good laugh though.
