Playing on a rainy day

I'm trying very hard to squeeze 20 minutes or so out of my day to do something creative. I had a chance to play this morning.
During my blog hopping this morning I found a card on Michelle Zindorf's blog that I cased.
Used some different colours and different stamps but I like the way it turned out.

Busy as a bee!

I've been as busy as a bee today doing jobs that desperately needed to be done like groceries, laundry and cleaning but I took a little break to use a set from this catalogue that I have not used before. The working bees are flying on wire to get to where they need to be.

Ever have one of those days?

I couldn't resist this little guy when we were in the Stamps by Judith booth at Great Lakes Mega Meet in Novi. We also bought the matching Hang In There stamp but I can't find it right now. I guess that's par for the course.
Well back to my housecleaning. I'm sure the Dust Bunnies have settled in nicely.

Under the Stars, Lovely as a Tree and Wow Flowers

I haven't made a card in a while so decided I would make some for the Scout leaders who gave up their holiday weekend to take Aaron and the others canoeing in Algonquin Park.
I when I get to use a lot of my Stampin Up products in one project. It justifies having them, doesn't it?
Paper: water colour paper, chocolate chip, really rust & glorious green cardstock (sorry the plaid paper is something I had in my non Stampin Up stash.)
Stamps: Under the Stars for the bear and the accessories, Lovely as a Tree for the trees, Wow Flowers for the thank you
Inks: chocolate chip, close to cocoa, really rust, tempting turquoise, cool caribbean, summer sun, only orange, kiwi kiss, hunter green and glorious green.
Ribbon: chocolate chip 1/4" grosgrain ribbon
Dies: Top Note Big Shot die
Punches: Designer Label.
Adhesive: Snail and Stampin Up dimensionals.
First I stamped the bear. Using a mask, I stamped the trees in the background and then stamped the compass, the sleeping bag, the can on a stick and the bugspray over his arms and legs to complete my scene.
I stamped the bear twice again so I could layer a full bear and then the face on the card putting dimensionals between the top 2 layers.
I stamped the sleeping bag onto the plaid paper and just cut out the roll part of the top to layer on the card.
Forgot to mention the sponging of the sky and the ground.
I also put dimensionals under the frame I made by cutting the top note die.
Now I'll just have to make 3 more (3 leaders and one to keep), get 3 Timmy's gift cards and they will be ready to give when the troop returns on Monday.

Stop and smell the flowers

The fruit trees were in full bloom last weekend in Novi.

Couldn't resist taking a photograph of the tree outside of Archivers.

An early start

The Scout group was already to go early this morning and got on their way a little earlier than planned. Hope that is an indication of good things to come. Forecast is for light rain tomorrow but sun the rest of the weekend. Aaron packed his winter coat because the nights are supposed to be between 0 and -4.
Have a great trip!

My guy is growing up

My guy is growing up.
He'll be 13 in less than a month and not a day goes by that he doesn't remind me of it.
He is preparing to go on a 4 day canoe trip this weekend with Scouts.
He is playing baseball with high school kids.
He is taller than me and let me know this week that the pants I bought 6 weeks ago are now too small.
He bought a laptop with his own money he earned from a babysitting job.
He built a hovercraft for a science fair project and
He was chosen to take part in a Math contest put on by the University of Waterloo.
I am so proud of him but just wish he wouldn't grow up quite so fast.

this is a vent

My daughter's MSN account has been hacked into and someone is sending out emails to all her friends with links to sexual content. In the morning I am going to do some reporting. In the meantime, I have a very upset little girl. I hope the hacker is happy.

Mini backpack box

As a challenge ELiz had the Mini backpack box , a tutorial on Splitcoaststampers by Mary Arima for us to make in the hotelroom last night Toocute. Thought it would be a little bigger but we can adjust that next time we make it.

Hello from the Great Lakes Mega Meet

Eliz and I say hello from the Great Lakes Mega Meet. We arrived just after lunch yesterday and shopped til we dropped. It was not super busy this afternoon so we had an opportunity to take a good look. We did some research on the web last night and are prepared to pick up some good deals today.

Seaside step card

last week I was at my friend Eliz's last week and she always has a challenge to try when I'm there. We cased this card by Kimberly Crawford. The stamp set is Stampin' Up Summer by the Sea. I just love
and like how this card turned out. Will have to do some more stair step cards. Just love the added dimension.

Not 1 hovercraft but 2

I know I posted on Saturday that Aaron and my dad made a hovercraft for a school project. Well, Aaron called his project partner to see if he had his method for the display board. Eric had not been able to complete his hovercraft because everyone told him it would not work so I think he gave up. In any event, Eric rode his bicycle brought his wood and plastic over on his bike and in the matter of a little more than an hour, not only did we have Aaron's hovercraft but Eric had his working. We did not have a video camera to record the 2nd effort but took lots of picture and took some video using my digital camera.
The video has been edited and is being burned onto a DVD for play as a continuous loop for the science fair display as I blog surf.
Pretty Cool! I hope I get some pictures of the boys, the hovercraft and the display board. I'll post them if I do. (the videos of Eric on his hovercraft are all sideways so this one is of Aaron's working

You're Fabulous

This was the card I managed to make yesterday for National Scrapbook Day. I've been working for hours trying to get my printer on-line again so I could scan it.

Where did the day go?

I know it was National Scrapbook Day today and I was bound and determined to do something creative.
First thing this morning, I had to take my husband to Scout Camp which was a 2 hour round trip.
Then another hour round trip into London to have my dad help Aaron make a hovercraft for his science fair project (which for the record I felt was too ambitious a project). We used my mom's video camera to film the process and edited it when we got home. He still has his display board to do but I am more comfortable with his progress today than I was last night.
Then promptly at 5 pm, Jenna's friends arrived for our Dove Self Esteem Sleepover. The girls had fun.
While they were watching their movie and painting their nails I was able to sneak into my craft room and come up with a card. I will post it in the morning. Right now the stickles have to dry before I can cut out my main image.
